Our economy is powered by ecological systems.

The founder of Patagonia is credited with saying (paraphrased) that without a healthy environment, there can be no stakeholders, no stockholders, no products, and no business.

When we discuss a stable and robust economy, we must take a long-term viewpoint if we are to sustain economic success. Raping systems and societies now to make an unsustainable profit creates dearth in our shared future.

As we remove uncertainty, such as volatility in energy prices, chance of health burdens, and disruption of work and family life due to storms and climate shifts, we become more able to dispel poverty and improve education.

Ecological respect yields economic strength and resilience.

WE ARE THE BENEFICIARY

Nature bestows gifts upon us, and we can truly earn these great benefits when we understand our relationship to nature's systems. At this point, we also experience some of the significant burdens of our lack of connection - deforestation, local food deserts, soil depletion, water contamination, detrimental air quality, and more. Yet we do have the power to earn back our balance.
